According to the channel, the plane crashed in a mountainous area in the Oum El Bouaghi province. Shortly before that, communication with the jet was cut off, military sources told the channel.
The cause of the crash could have been bad weather conditions, according to preliminary information, local daily newspaper Elkhabar reported. According to the newspaper, 123 people were killed in the crash.
The exact number of victims is not yet clear, sources in the Algerian army say. The military reportedly do not rule out that there might have been survivors in the crash.
The plane was heading to the city of Constantine located in the northwest of the country, according to military sources, RIA Novosti reports.
Families of military staff were on board the plane, Al-Arabiya reported.
Ambulances have been sent to the scene of the crash.
The authorities have not yet released a statement on the crash, and no official death toll was immediately available.
