Mikola Zelenec (Микола Анатолійович Зеленець) was Ukrainian bussinesman and honorary consul from Lithuania in Luhansk. He was kidnapped by russian terrorists and killed, according to media information.

Mikola Zelenec was born in Krasniy Luch, near Luhansk

In 1993 he started work in JSC Obuhivska coal producing factory

1997 he graduated from Novocherkask State Technical University (Новочеркаський державний технічний університет) in specialities of mining engineer & electric mechanics.

Since 2000 was director in Luhansk company Specautomatica ("Луганське спеціалізоване підприємство протипожежної автоматики і охоронної сигналізації «Спецавтоматика»)

In 2004 he graduated from East-Ukrainian national university (Східноукраїнський національний університет імені Володимира Даля), specialities of management and economics

Since 2012 director of company Nabat («Набат»).

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania announces with deep sorrow that the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania in Luhansk and Ukrainian businessman Mykola Zelenec was murdered by the unknown criminals and extends its heartfelt sympathy to the family of the victim.

Several days ago he was kidnapped by armed terrorists, taken in the unknown direction and shot dead.

We lost a sincere friend of Lithuania, an active supporter of Lithuanian-Ukrainian cooperation who had a lot of plans for the development of cultural and business relations between the two countries.

We condemn this crime and we believe that it will be investigated and those who are responsible for it will be found and held accountable.  


“We lost a sincere friend of Lithuania and Ukraine [...] who had a lot of plans for the development of the two countries, including cultural and business ties. We condemn this crime and we believe that it will be investigated and those responsible prosecuted and punished persons.” the Ministry said in a written statement.

The President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite also expressed her condolences. “I am shocked by the news..myself and the people of Lithuania on behalf of the deceased to express condolences to the family and loved ones, ” said the President.

Zelenec was kidnapped days prior by a group of armed terrorists, his whereabouts since unknown. He was then shot.


With deep sorrow just learned about Lithuania's honorary consul in Lugansk Mr  Mykola Zelenec kidnapped &brutaly killed by terrorists there.
