Alexander G. Yagubkin (born 25 March 1961 in Donetsk, USSR) is a former amateur boxer, who won a gold medal at the 1982 World Amateur Boxing Championships and was honoured as a Master of Sports of the USSR.
1982 World champsionship
Yagubkin represented the USSR at the 1982 World Amateur Boxing Championships inMunich, West Germany. There he won the gold medal in the heavyweight division (– 91 kg). In the final he defeated by East Germany's Jürgen Fanghänel, after the referee stopped the contest in the third round.[1]
1987 European championships
Five years later, at the inaugural 1987 European Amateur Boxing Championships in Turin, Italy, this time Yagubkin competed at super heavyweight and won the silver medal title after losing to Ulli Kaden in the final.
