On the morning of January 26, 2020, a Sikorsky S-76B helicopter crashed in Calabasas, California, around 30 miles (48 kilometers) northwest of Los Angeles.
It was carrying pilot Ara Zobayan and eight passengers:
- Kobe Bryant,
- his 13-year-old daughter Gianna (Gigi),
Gigi's peers and their parents (including Orange Coast College baseball coach ) - John Altobelli;
- his wife Keri and
- daughter Alyssa;
- Sarah Chester and her
- daughter Payton),
- and basketball coach Christina Mauser.
All aboard were killed
