The attacker who assassinated the Russian ambassador to Turkey in Ankara has been identified by Turkish media as a police officer. Member of special ops unit in Ankara - @Charles_Lister
Mert Altintas, 22, shot and killed Andrey Karlov while he was giving a speech at 19/12/2016 night at an art gallery opening.
The gunman screamed in Turkish, “”Allahu akbar (God is great). Do not forget Aleppo! Do not forget Syria! Do not forget Aleppo! Do not forget Syria!”, (CNN)
According to reports from the scene, multiple people were shot or otherwise injured during the attack. Three people were taken to the hospital, Hurriyet Daily News reports.
Altintas was later “neutralized,” - killed authorities said.
