Josef Cumpe (Czechoslovakia, * Sunday 16.08.1868   -  † Friday 13.08.1943)

Chessplayer and Chess composer of problems and endgame studies

Josef Cumpe was Vladimir Pachman's great-uncle.

His book "Žertem doopravdy" was published in 1941 and can be downloaded. Miroslav Soukup's homage "Josef Cumpe - Věrný Čech" (1943) can be downloaded also.

On the Website "Chess Composers: August 16th"  is written:  "Cumpe composed about 1500 chess problems in the Bohemian style with a marked preference for miniatures."

Others: On the Dutch Website arves.org are 10 endgame studies composed by him are selected. Many studies have many moves with check on the black king in the solution.
