"Dan was one of the best-known chess problem composers in the world. He has made a big mark in the world of chess problemists, his name easily recognized and associated with excellence and originality. His impressive skills and great imagination produced many wonderful works of art that will carry his name and continue to produce joy and admiration. His legacy will live for ever. I always admired his good sense of humor, his ability to work hard on some challenging compositions, and his determination to achieve some specific target.
