Josep Tolosa i Carreras

Josep Tolosa i Carreras (Castilian: José Tolosa y Carreras, * 20 November 1846 in Girona; † 28 April 1916 in Barcelona) was a Spanish chess player, chess composer, journalist and non-fiction author. He came from Catalonia.

He was a pupil of Joan Carbó i Batlle, and a teacher of Josep Paluzie i Lucena and Valentí Marín i Llovet. He played chess at the Café del Recreo and the Cafè Anglès and wrote for the magazines Teoría y práctica del ajedrez, La Ilustración and Sportsmen's Club. Josep Paluzie i Lucena published a textbook for chess beginners in 1905, which he dedicated to José Tolosa y Carreras.
