...as well as Gyula Neukomm (22.4.1892-9.10.1957), who, when the Hungarian chess problemists began to organise themselves in the mid-1930s, immediately played a leading role and also took over the leadership of the Hungarian Problem Society for a time after the end of the Second World War. After the Problem Commission of FIDE (PCCC) was constituted in Budapest in 1956 on Hungarian initiative, Neukomm was elected its first president. As a chess composer, Neukomm was particularly concerned with 2#, 3# and preferably with auxiliary mates, of which he was one of the pioneers"

 

Gyula Neukomm (Neukom, Hungarian Neukomm Gyula ), also Julius Neukomm ( German Julius Neukomm ; 22 April 1892 , Vrsac - 9 October 1957 , Budapest )

- Hungarian chess composer of German origin; international arbiter ( 1956 ). Professor of mathematics. One of the founders of the FIDE Standing Commission for Chess Composition and its first president (1956-1957). Founder (together with N. Kovacs) of the National School for Problems of Co-operative Pairing .

Since 1906, he has published around 750 compositions of various genres. He paid particular attention to block problems with two moves and co-operative checkmate problems.

Gyula (Julius) Neukomm composed helpmates, directmates and other genres as well. Together with Kovacs and Schor he wrote a dictionary about chess problem terminology "Feladvány Műszótár" (1926).
He was chief editor of the Hungarian magazine "Magyar Sakkvilag", president of PCCC from 1956 until his death and International Judge.
His chess problems were appreciated by solvers for their entertaining qualities!
