Arnoldo Ellerman (* 12 January 1893 in Buenos Aires; † 21 November 1969 in Buenos Aires) was an Argentine chess composer and author.

Chess composition
Since 1910 Ellerman has composed about 5840 chess problems, mainly two-move problems. He received around 600 tournament honours, including 115 first and 152 second prizes. Alongside Comins Mansfield, Alberto Mari and Mikhail Barulin, he made a significant contribution to the rebirth of the strategic two-mover in the 1920s and 1930s. From 1956 he was an international adjudicator for chess composition and in 1959 he became honoris causa International Master of Chess Composition.

Theorist and author
Arnoldo Ellerman is the author of several books and theoretical essays. He has written about direct unleashing, a topic closely associated with his name.
