A fisherman from Yorkshire has become the first Briton to die fighting on behalf of Vladimir Putin's army in the Ukraine war.

Just 10 weeks after touching down in Moscow, Bradley Townsend, 33, from Barnsley, south Yorkshire, was killed in a "storm operation" by a remote-controlled drone in eastern Ukraine, near the city of Lyman.

Four years on from Moscow's illegal invasion of Ukraine, the 33-year-old Putin sympathiser jetted off to the Russian capital to sign a contract to fight for the Kremlin in April.

Despite the 33-year-old's striking lack of military experience, British pro-Russian fighters Aiden Minnis and Ben Stimson are said to have recruited him online, while Mr Townsend told family members he was visiting Romania, LBC revealed.

Bradley Townsend, 33, from Barnsley, South Yorkshire is dead. He didn’t come to Ukraine to fight for freedom. He signed a contract with the russian Federation to kill Ukrainians for money, and lasted less than 30 minutes in the warzone before an FPV drone ended him. Good. Let that be the message to every other parasite thinking of signing up for the occupiers: you won’t get paid, you won’t last, and your family will know exactly what kind of person they raised.
