Maria Spirelli

Maria Spinelli was born in Atri, in the province of Teramo, and lived in Città Sant’Angelo, a town in the Pescara hinterland situated between Montesilvano and Silvi. She had attended the Zolli Hotel Management School in Silvi, where she had obtained her diploma. After finishing her studies, she had decided to seek a career opportunity outside Italia. 

She had moved to Switzerland a month earlier to work and build a future for herself. Maria Spinelli, the 22-year-old from Abruzzo who died in the shooting at the rave in Aarau, had found a job as a waitress.

On the night between Saturday and Sunday, she was at the racecourse in the Swiss town with friends. She was attending a techno music event when the shots were fired that killed her. She would have turned 23 in October.
