 Daniel Nader, Boxing coach

Sports director at Bounce

He was the sports director at ‘Bounce - The fitness zone’. Not only IBF champion Marcos Nader thrived under his wing, but also WBF champions Michaela Kotaskova and Stefan Nikolic, as well as heavyweights Seun Salami, Mobin Kahraze, amateurs Marcel Meinl, Arsen Chabyan and many more.

Former national coach of the ÖBV

Daniel was the national coach of the Austrian Boxing Association for a very long time and in this role was also responsible for the sporting development of young boxers throughout Austria.

Retirement from active coaching

Daniel Nader retired from active coaching on 1 March 2024 due to health problems( Multisystem atrophy). His agendas in the Bounce squad will be taken over by Ukrainian former world champion Roman Shkarupa.

He will remain head coach at the Bounce boxing club. The Austrian Boxing Association (ÖBV) has asked him to remain on the board as an official. In addition, Daniel Nader will continue to be active as sports director on the board of the Vienna Boxing Association and played a key role in shaping the sporting structures.

Daniel Nader, the 42-year-old Viennese boxing trainer, founder of the well-known boxing club Bounce and brother of boxing champion Marcos Nader, has died. He succumbed to a rare and serious nervous disease (Multisystem atrophy).

Nader, who enjoyed a high reputation as an Olympic boxer and internationally recognised AIBA trainer, had a lasting impact on the Austrian boxing scene. The loss is particularly difficult for his brother, the successful professional boxer Marcos Nader. The two were not only close on a sporting level, but were also closely connected in their private lives. Marcos has not only lost a trainer and mentor, but also a kindred spirit.

Daniel Nader about his illness

You have made your Parkinson's disease public. How are you feeling now?
DANIEL NADER: According to the circumstances. It's bad news, but I don't like being the centre of attention because of it. I don't want pity, I just wanted to clarify things with my lines. You need time to realise it, but life goes on.

When did you realise that something was wrong with your body?
Three years ago. It was always little things that quickly went away. After corona, persistent balance problems remained. Then the long search began.

When was the final diagnosis made?
I only found out myself last Friday (note: interview on 2 March). My family and I are still in the discovery phase. Just one example: I can no longer play football with my son. I have to explain that to him, but of course I can't lie to him. I always approach things with an open mind. Now we know, everything else will fall into place.

How can we imagine the moment of such an announcement?
You are a passenger. As an athlete, if you lose, it's your own fault. But there's nothing you can do here. Why do other people get cancer? When I look at the world, it could be worse. The important thing is to come to terms with the situation. There is no explanation. That's why it doesn't make sense to think about it. You have to make the best of it and now I know my opponent!

About him

"Today, with the deepest sadness, I have to say goodbye to my beloved brother Daniel, who was born on June 20, 1982 and passed away today, November 6, 2024 at 10:38 a.m., at ONLY 42 years old. It is incomprehensible and hurts so much!!!

Daniel, you were not only my brother, but my driving force in sport, my role model in business, my friend for life!

We have achieved so much together, especially through our shared passion for boxing, which has shaped our lives in so many ways.

But it wasn't just the work and the successes - it was the countless moments when we just laughed.

Your laughter, your humor, the joy we shared, I will miss that infinitely."  Marcos Nader
