He made his debut in 1952 in the weekly newspaper ‘Przyjaźń’. In 1957 he won the title of National Master and in 1988 the FIDE Master in Chess Composition. He has published over 1,400 tasks (some of them included in FIDE albums) and won over 350 prizes and awards (including over 50 first prizes). He has held the title of International Master of Chess Composition since 2015 and National Grandmaster in chess composition since 2013.

As an outstanding organiser, he contributed to the high status of composition in the chess community. In the years 1961-2003 he edited the magazine ‘Problemista’. In the years 1976-1990 he was president of the district chess association in Częstochowa and in the years 1980-2003 chairman of the PZSzach composition committee.

He was awarded the Golden Cross of Merit (1988), the Silver Medal ‘For outstanding sporting achievements’, the Gold Badge of Merit for Physical Culture, the Golden Badge of Honour of the PZSzach and many others. Honorary member of the Polish Chess Federation since 2008.

Multiple medallist of the Polish Chess Composition Championship (including Polish Champion in the Fairy Tale Tasks section [8th Championship, 1967-1970] and ten-time Polish runner-up in the Samomata section) as well as gold medallist of the Polish Chess Problem Solving Championship (Luliniec 1988) and Polish representative at the World Chess Composition Championship and the World Chess Problem Solving Championship. Two-time medallist of the World Team Chess Composition Championship (1984-1988 - silver, 1989-1992 - bronze).

He has created all kinds of chess problems.
