Fritz Hoffmann

Fritz Hoffmann (* October 20, 1932 in Weißenfels; † July 12, 2016 in Weißenfels) was a German chess composer and publicist.

Chess composition
Hoffmann had been composing chess problems since the mid-1960s. He specialized in two-move chess problems.

He has been an international adjudicator for chess composition since 1976 and was awarded the title of FIDE Master of Chess Composition in 1990.

Chess publicist
Fritz Hoffmann was always present with a wealth of small and large articles, glosses, tributes, obituaries, humorous pieces in chess newspapers and on other chess events. He maintained extensive chess correspondence with the whole world. The chess players of the Halle district often had the opportunity to meet Fritz Hoffmann at the numerous trainers' courses at the Weißenfels sports school.

Private life
Hoffmann was a teacher, but was later unable to work in his profession for health reasons. He had two sons.
