Austrian chess problemist, né Erlinger, pseudonym D. Nirle who published 1600 problems in three or more moves in old German style which 250 were honored.

He was also a precursor of the Bohemian school.

"Konrad Erlinger published problems under the pseudonym of Konrad Erlin. He was a prolific chess composer, a lover of model mates and of sacrifices of white pieces, and a precursor of the Bohemian school."

The Austrian composer Konrad Erlinger (10.2.1856-31.12.1944) omitted the last three letters of his name (which is why they do not appear here in bold). He was one of the most important representatives of the old Viennese school, whose often overloaded, ponderous positions no longer quite correspond to today's taste. His three-move move shown here is a good example of the Viennese school, which focussed entirely on mate purity, but does not achieve the elegance of the Bohemian school.
