László Zoltán (Hungary, 22.5.1942 - 18.12.2008)
Significant Chess composer of chess problems and endgame studies
He was born in Budapest. Plumbing engineer.
His first composition was published in 1957, and he achieved his first competition success this year. Most of his published puzzles have received awards. The awardees are also mostly among the awardees. His international recognition is also evidenced by his works included in the FIDE albums.
He was a regular and successful participant of the Hungarian championships. He regularly judged at domestic and international competitions.
He performed significant organizational work in the Tipográfia TE Feladvány Department. As a member of the Chess Treaty Committee, he served the cause of Hungarian chess acquisition well.
He was one of our most versatile chess players.
His two- and three-step checkmate puzzles, helper checkmates, fairy chess puzzles and endgame studies put him among the best.
In particular, he made a lasting impression in the non-fiction genre and in the pursuit of studies. His works are characterized by a harmony of content and form, and a deep, delicate elaboration.
The co-compositions are born from the exchange of ideas of the chess composers. We know many such examples in the puzzle literature. Among them, we can find quite a few masterpieces created jointly by László Zoltán and György Bakcsi.
