Revaz Levonovich Tavariani (22.12.1922 - 06.11.1996)
in Germain also known as "Rewas Tawariani"
was a known Georgian chess composer of problems and endgame studies born in Surami, who resided in Tbilisi.
He performed as a pedagogue in the field of physical culture, and in chess he achieved the titles of "national judge" and "trainer emeritus".
According to his own data he began in the chess composition at 13 years of age and estimated to have made about 700 chess compositions,
An interesting composer of varied and pleasant style, Tavariani likes to compose miniatures with logical ideas and create "chess studies" within the Studio;
Although he does not disdain the treatment of complicated positions that require much more combining imagination.
As author, Tavariani has written and published in Georgian language the work "Fantazia 64 udzhraze"
(which could be translated as "Fantasy on the board") (Tbilisi, 1985).
