On 8 December 2021, Madhulika Rawat died in the crash of an Indian Air Force Mi-17 helicopter in Tamil Nadu. He was accompanied by her husband general Rawat and members of his staff, who were also killed in the crash

Madhulika Rawat, also known as Madhulika Raje Singh, was an Indian social worker and the president of the Defence Wives Welfare Association (DWWA). She worked for the well being of the wives, children and dependents of defence personnel. She was the wife of India's first Chief of Defense Staff, General Bipin Rawat.
Madhulika Rawat worked towards empowering defence wives by teaching them life skills and prompting them to take courses, making them financially independent.
She was also involved with other NGOs and welfare associations such as Veer Naris which helps widows of military personnel, differently-abled children and cancer patients.
Personal life
Madhulika Rawat and then COAS Bipin Rawat with the Cadets from North-East Region, at the NCC Reception, in New Delhi on 16 January 2018.A descendant of an erstwhile princely family, Madhulika was the daughter of Kunwar Mrigendra Singh, sometime Riyasatdar of the pargana of Sohagpur Riyasat in Shahdol district and an Indian National Congress MLA from the district in 1967 and 1972.
She was educated at Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya in Gwalior. Madhulika graduated in psychology at Delhi University.
She married Bipin Rawat in 1985. They had two daughters.
