Denis Kireev

Denis Borysovych Kireev was an Ukrainian banking expert and spy. He has worked with a number of international organizations (such as Citibank, Credit Lyonnais, ING, Rabobank), specializing in the management of the Private Equity Fund and the Fixed Income Fund. First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Oschadbank JSC (2010-2014). Unofficial member of the first delegation for negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. Shot by the Security Service of Ukraine on suspicion of treason in favor of Russia.

Denis Borisovich Kireev was born on January 1, 1977 in Kyiv. He studied at the Technical Lyceum of Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Then he graduated from Kyiv Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Management and Marketing. He later continued his studies at the Institute of Advanced Training and Retraining of the Moscow State Pedagogical University with a degree in Finance, and then graduated from the UNICO Banking Institute in Amsterdam.

Since 2000 he has worked as the manager of the currency and financial operations department at Credit Lyon Bank Ukraine.

Since 2002 he has been working for Citibank Ukraine as the General Manager of Corporate Business Management.

In 2004 he became the General Manager of the Corporate Finance Department at ING Bank Ukraine and until 2006 he worked as the Chief Manager of the Corporate Finance Department at ING Bank Ukraine.

From 2006 to 2008 he worked as Deputy General Director of SCM Finance. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Austrian company GROUP SLAV AG.

Since 2007 he has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Ukreximbank under the quota of the Verkhovna Rada.

From 2010 to 2014 he worked as the First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Oschadbank JSC. In March 2016, the then head of Oschadbank, Andriy Pyshny, accused Denis Kireev of committing financial fraud and causing damage to Oschadbank.

On February 13, 2022, the media reported that he was suspected of working for the Russian special services under the pseudonym "Good". However, he joined the first delegation to negotiate with Russia after it invaded Ukraine.

It is noteworthy that in the office of the President Kireev was not announced as a participant in the talks, but he is in the photo and video of the talks, where he sits on the side of Ukraine.

Connections

He was friends with the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Andriy Klyuyev and the Chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine Ivan Bakanov.

Criminal cases

In July 2020, criminal proceedings were opened against Kireev for working for the Russian secret services.

Death

He died on March 5, 2022. According to preliminary media reports, he was allegedly killed while being detained by the SBU while trying to escape. He was suspected of treason, and the SBU had evidence of his betrayal (records of telephone conversations). The Central Intelligence Agency soon revealed that he had died while performing special tasks as an employee of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. In addition to him, Oleksiy Dolya and Hero of Ukraine Valery Chibineev also died. "They died defending Ukraine, and their rank brought us closer to victory," the administration said in a comment.
