Gyurika Fried

17 September 1943 | A Hungarian Jewish, girl Gyurika Fried, was born in Nagyvarad.

In May 1944 she was deported to #Auschwitz and murdered in a gas chamber.

This sweet little baby was the daughter of Kalman, an agriculturist, born 28-05-1900 and Vera nee Burgida. Kalman was deported from Auschwitz to Dachau where he died in April 1945, so close to it's liberation. Mother Vera was a survivor.

Normally mothers with little children were also send to the gas chamber. But she survived because she handed little Gyurika to her own mother, so Gyurika's grandmother. The testimony Vera did for here little baby says "taken over by grandmother and never seen again."

Both Vera's parents were in the same transport. Gyurika's grandparents: > Dov Burgida, born 20-03-1885 > Iren Burgida nee Kraus, born 06-02-1890 Little Gyurika, we will remember you, your daddy and your grandparents.

Baby Gyurika was a boy and not a girl. "Relationship: Son." It was incorrect in the Yad VaShem database, but has been corrected.
