Paul Lee Kim

The U.S. soldier, Captain Paul Kim, was killed in battle against the Russian Army on October 5th in the Kherson region.

He spent almost 12 years in the US Army, incl. serving in the 82nd Airborne Division in Iraq.

Paul was born Oct. 7, 1987 in Irving, Texas to Young Sik Kim and Sook Kim.

He graduated from Aledo High School and joined the United States Army where he served his country for 11 years 11 months:

  • Mar 2005 - May 2011; 6 yrs 3 mos; Army Reserve Enlisted Soldier Army; addiotionally attended Airborne and Ranger School

  • Dec 2011 - May 2012;  6 mos; Administrative Battalion Staff Officer Fort Bragg, North Carolina  

  • Jun 2011 - Dec 2011; 7 mos; Infantry Basic Officer Course Student  Fort Benning, Georgia

  • May 2012 - Jun 2014; 2 yrs 2 mos; Logistics Battalion Staff Officer Fort Bragg, North Carolina  

  • Dec 2014 - Jul 2015; 8 mos; Company Executive Officer Fort Bragg, North Carolina  

  • Jun 2014 - Jul 2015; 1 yr 2 mos; Platoon Leader Fort Bragg, North Carolina  

  • Jul 2015 - Apr 2016; 10 mos; Maneuver Captains Career Course Student Fort Benning, Georgia  

  • Apr 2016 - Jan 2017; 10 mos; Assistant Operations Brigade Staff Officer Fort Benning, Georgia Additionally attended the Bradley Fighting Vehicle Course.

Paul was passionate in traveling, learning and teaching about history and culture, and was a foodie. He was selfless and always put others before himself. He loved Oklahoma football, dad jokes, puns, and his friends and family. Paul was a devoted Catholic and active in his church community.

Paul filled everyone's life around him with pure love and joy. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by both maternal and paternal grandparents; uncle, Young Ho Kim; and cousin, Kevin Mun.
Survivors: Parents, Young and Sook Kim; brother, Jonathan Kim; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Funeral Mass: 11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, 2022 in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: 2 p.m. Friday at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
