Khvicha Abashvili

Khvicha Abashvili was a major in the Georgian police, and in 1993-1996 he was the commander of the border troops. He was born in 1964 in Zugdidi. He graduated from the university and received a law degree. In 1993, he became a major and received the position of commander of the border troops. At that time, members of the Rustavi organized crime group (one of Ded Hasan's clans) were actively importing and exporting contraband of alcohol and illegal substances across the border. The leader of the organized crime group, Dzambo Dzambidze, was able to bribe Khvicha, and the contraband freely entered Russia and Georgia. In 1996, Datiko Buradze, a police lieutenant, was killed by Jumbo Molodoy's bandits because he wanted to report huge illegal supplies to his superiors. Khvicha Abashvili was able to hush up this case, also due to the huge corruption of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs. In 1996, Khvicha was removed from his post and he moved to Tbilisi, where he bought himself an apartment and a Mercedes E-class with gangster money. In early 1997, Jumbo Young stopped paying Khvicha money for silence and help, since he had connections in the government, which had already begun to openly cooperate with criminal authorities. Then Khvicha Abashvili began to threaten that he would hand over the smuggling activities and other crimes of the thief in law. On February 27, 1997, Khvicha Abashvili and his entire family were found dead in their apartment. According to the examination, first the son (multiple bullet wounds in the abdomen and chest) and wife (also shot and most of the wounds on the stomach and chest) of the policeman were killed, and then Khvicha Abashvili himself was shot in the head.
