Tafari Jawara Campbell

Tafari Jawara Campbell
Born March 10, 1978, in Brooklyn, New York.
Sous-chef (from French sous-chef — “under-chef”: the second-in-command in the kitchen after the head chef) at the White House under the Bush and Obama administrations; from 2017 onward, personal chef to the Obama family.

Drowned on July 23, 2023, while paddleboarding near the Obamas’ estate on Martha’s Vineyard (death ruled an accident). Social media claims that he was writing an exposé book and had a relationship with Obama. There is no evidence for these allegations.

He is usually mentioned together with:

1. Donald Young
Born April 5, 1960. Fourth- and fifth-grade teacher at Guggenheim Elementary School in Chicago.
For more than 20 years he served as choir director and deacon at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago — the same church attended by Barack and Michelle Obama.
Shot and killed on December 23, 2007, in his apartment. The murder remains unsolved.

Conspiracy theories call him Obama’s lover who was about to go public with the story just before the 2008 election. There is no official confirmation of these claims.

In conspiracy theories two deceased men are named — Tafari Campbell and Donald Young. The third person mentioned, Larry Sinclair, is still alive.

2. Larry Sinclair
Born 1961–1962 (exact year and place of birth are not publicly documented). Former driver with convictions for fraud and document forgery.
Since 2008 he has repeatedly claimed that in 1999 he had a sexual relationship with Barack Obama and used crack cocaine with him.
Lives in Mexico; in 2023 he repeated the allegations in an interview.
There is no evidence supporting his statements.
