Malia Langen

Malia Langen, a CBS executive who worked her way up from page to the comedy development department, died early Monday at UCLA Medical Center after a long battle with leukemia. She was 38.

Langen was development coordinator for the comedy department. She was promoted to the post in 2005 after working as an assistant to Wendi Trilling, CBS’ exec VP of comedy development.

Trilling called Langen “an invaluable member of the CBS comedy team” and highlighted her enthusiasm for her work.

Langen had a nearly lifelong struggle with leukemia. She underwent a kidney transplant as a teenager.

Langen joined CBS as a page in December 1999 and was tapped as Trilling’s assistant in 2002.

Outside of her work at CBS, Langen served as a board member of the non-profit orgs Renal Support Network and Donate Life Hollywood.

Survivors include her mother and father, two sisters and a brother. CBS said a memorial service is being planned.
