Ēvalds Grabovskis (2 March 1941, Riga – 11 October 2026) was a Latvian ice hockey player (defenceman), coach, official, and hockey historian. He attended Riga’s 6th Secondary School and played for Riga Dinamo / Daugava (1962–1967).
As a coach, he led Riga Dinamo (assistant and head coach 1974–1980 and 1988–1991; the team finished 4th–8th), the Bulgarian national team (1980–1981), the Polish club Podhale Nowy Targ (1992–1996, four-time Polish champions), and the Polish national team (1992–1994). In 1995 he was head coach of the Latvian national team (World Championship Group B – 2nd place).
He later served as Executive Director of the Latvian Ice Hockey Federation (LHF). He was a compiler of hockey history and author of the books Hokeja elpas skartie and Hokeja ģimene. On his initiative, World Hockey Veterans’ Memorial Day has been observed since 30 September 2016; he also established the tradition of Hockey Soldiers’ Memorial Day. In 2019 he received the LHF award for lifetime contribution to hockey. He regarded himself as a like-minded associate of Viktor Tikhonov and a continuer of his hockey school.
He devoted his entire life to Latvian hockey. Rest in peace.
