Two football fans on their way to watch Newcastle United's pre-season tour of New Zealand were on doomed flight MH17.
Dedicated fans Liam Sweeney and John Alder, from Newcastle, were travelling via Malaysia to watch their beloved team abroad, the Newcastle Chronicle reports.
The Magpies are due to take on on Australian A-League sides Sydney FC in and Wellington Phoenix at the Westpac Stadium in the capital.
John Alder, known to fans as John 'The Undertaker', is believed to be in his 60s, and was well-known among Toon fans as he always wore a suit to the game.

Rocket was launched from cossacks' ataman Kozytsin positions. According to some experts, Russian aircraft with Russian tourists was expected to be shot down, to back further wide-scale Russian invasion in Ukraine after Crimea and East Ukraine
