Dzimusi profesora Paula un Ņinas Stradiņu ģimenē; brālis - akadēmiķis Jānis Stradiņš, māsas - arhitekte un gleznotāja Irēna Stradiņa un Dr.med. Asja Eglīte-Ērgle.
Bija precējusies ar ārstu Vestardu Sosāru (1929-2000), meitas - angļu filoloģe Māra Sosāre un Dr. med Linda Sosāre.
Latvijas Universitātē studēja angļu filoloģiju, filoloģijas zinātņu kandidāte, docente, ilggadēja Rīgas Medicīnas institūta Svešvalodu katedras vadītāja.
Bija viena no angļu-latviešu vārdnīcas sastādītājām, kā arī redaktore. Starp M.Sosāres publicētajām grāmatam ir: English for Tiny Tots, English Doctors Speak, I study English, Speaking English is Fun, Goodnight Stories (1994).
