USSR communist crimes against civilians. Operation "West"("Zahid"). More than 76,000 West-Ukraine nationals deported
Since 1939 and after WWII West-Ukraine was occupied by USSR and incorporated in "Ukraine SSR". It was less russified than other parts of Ukraine, where after artificial famine of 1929-1932, repressions 1937-38 and WWII, local population was largely exterminated and many russian families were resetled.
On 10th of September, 1947 a decree of Council of Ministers of USSR issued decree:
«Про виселення із західних областей УРСР до областей: Карагандинської, Архангельської, Вологодської, Кемеровської, Кіровської, Молотовської, Свердловської, Тюменської, Челябінської та Читинської членів родин „оунівців“ і активних бандитів, заарештованих та вбитих у боях». ("About resettling of family members of "OUN" and active mobsters arrested and killed in the fighting from western regions of the USSR to the regions: Karaganda, Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Kemerovo, Kirov, Molotovskoyi, Sverdlovsk, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk and Chita")
Due WWII, West Ukraine regions were lost many men - it causes that more than 75% from deported to Siberia, Kazakhstan etc, this time were women and children:
- Women: 35,152
- Children: 22,174
- Men: 18,866
